The 2025 Gettysburg Film Festival took place from May 8-11 focusing on the legacy of World War II. Internationally acclaimed filmmaker Ken Burns opened the festival, marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (V-E) Day. Special guests included Martin Sheen, Robert Edsel, Susan Eisenhower, Stephen Lang, Trace Adkins, and more.

Internationally acclaimed documentary filmmaker Ken Burns returned to Gettysburg on April 5 and 6, 2024 for a festival celebrating his nearly five-decade-long career. Joined by friends and collaborators, Burns presented excerpts and full-length films that examine fundamental themes of freedom and democracy, consequential elections throughout history, and our shared identity as Americans. Guests included Martin Sheen, Sam Waterston, Susan Eisenhower, Sarah Botstein, Harold Holzer, Jeff Shaara, and musicians Jay Ungar and Molly Mason.

Ken Burns came to Gettysburg for the first ever festival dedicated solely to his work on February 10-12, 2023. More than a career retrospective, festival goers engaged with Burns, his collaborators, historians, and students in consequential conversations about the simple question Burns has explored in all his films: Who Are We? Guests included Susan Eisenhower, Jay Ungar and Molly Mason, Kevin Richardson, Geoffrey Ward, Buddy Squires, and Jeff Shaara.
